I keep wanting to take a nice morning walk to the beach, but I always end up waking up after noon. This makes me angry, mostly because it's 100% my fault. See subject.
Actually sat down and studied properly today. One thing I notice in every topic I look into is that it takes a long time to get to whatever I'm most interested in. For example I want to know about the applications of calculus in physics, but to really understand that I've got to work through all of precalculus and teach myself functions first - or learn it at school next year. I'm also keen on reading modern philosophers like Kierkegaard, Spinoza and Hegel -- but to understand their writings I've got to have a firm grip on first philosophy so that the meaning might not escape me. I've only just finished the Republic! I have Aristotle next, and then Epicurus and the stoics... St. Augustine! Thomas Aquinas..! I'm going to be here a while...
Learning languages is the same as well, I think. The deal with acquiring a language is that you have to keep exposing yourself to it for years and years -- which is why so many people are never able to learn. I hate the saying that some people just have a natural aptitude for acquisition, not because it isn't true (I'm sure it is in some respects) but because the people saying it like to use it to excuse their own failures, and their idleness... which results in more failure!
I'm just listing reasons why I've got to get serious myself. This blog starts to look more like a study log every day. I swear that's not all I do or care about...

I miss the ocean. I'm not a beach person, but I like the ocean. the power of it, the sound. I think I'd rather walk there at 4am than later in the morning, when it's dark or just twilight and there's only the sound.
