Got off school today. A few classmates are leaving for good this year, which is a bummer considering I got on well with most of those guys, but I'm glad to be free for a few months.
The Damned were also in town tonight, with their original drummer Rat Scabies back in the band - but the venue they played at had a strict 'no kids' rule. I wanted to catch them at least once since those guys are all getting close to seventy now, but I didn't want see them enough to bother getting a fake ID or having a friend sit on my shoulders in a trenchcoat.
I've got a lot of plans this summer. I'll write all of them here so I don't forget.
First of all - sports. I never got serious about any sport as a kid, on account of me being a bum and wanting to stay home all day. Now it's a bit too late to become a serious athlete of any sort, but that doesn't mean I can't play recreationally. I plan to continue lifting, and start biking and swimming again this summer - and I'll also go out to play ball with my dad as much as I can.
I would've headed to the gym today, but I got a bruised tailbone from falling on my ass playing manhunt with some classmates, which is a really embarrassing injury to have. Hopefully I'll be able to go on Monday, cause I'm real scared of regressing. I know muscle doesn't disappear that fast, but I'm already shrimpy enough.
I'm also going to self-study plenty this summer. I've always had terrible discipline when it comes to academics, but I never had trouble coasting by regardless. I can't keep doing that, though. Things are getting more serious, and I do want in on a decent university - or else what's this all for? I like to talk a lot when it comes to what I wanna achieve academically, but I never have the discipline to back it up. Tonight's a good example, I said I was going to watch a college lecture online and maybe do a few language exercises but I ended up watching Borat.
That's gonna change this summer; I'm going straight to work tomorrow morning when I wake up, or God strike me dead. I'll probably focus on learning more maths, physics & chem concepts, and I'll start practicing my French and German again. I'll get my act together this summer, I'm serious.
